Two individuals are now facing charges following a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray caused injuries at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.

The charges follow an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage taken after exiting a car park lift, police said.

A young child was caught up in the incident during the incident. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were eventually allowed to go home.

The incident – which authorities stated was isolated and not considered a terror-related act – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
