Trump Organization Sought to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025

Donald Trump’s corporate entity accelerated its recruitment of foreign workers on temporary visas this year, while his administration was placing obstacles for other businesses wanting to do the same, an analysis released Thursday claimed.

Based on information from the federal labor department, the Trump Organization aimed to bring in at least 184 overseas employees in the coming year for temporary positions at the US president’s Florida property, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The quantity of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas for staff including servers, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and agricultural laborers was the highest ever filed by the organization, and up from over 120 in 2021, when his presidency concluded.

It was also the fifth time in a decade that Trump had attempted to bring in more than 100 foreign employees for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The revelation coincides with a tightening on immigration laws by his government that has included the implementation of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the 55 million people who possess American work permits; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and journalists.

Overall, the business sought to hire 566 foreign laborers over the five years the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Significantly, Trump was criticized by certain in the GOP this period for comments defending the need for overseas employees when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill certain positions.

“You can’t just say a country is entering, going to invest billions to construct a plant, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start making their missiles. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he stated to a host after it was implied that foreign workers undercut the pay of American employees.

The administration refused a request for comment, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
