The Streaming Giant Casts Perfect Performer for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the major clash isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Mr. 2. Bon Clay can use their power to morph into an exact copy of anyone they’ve touched with their dominant hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a version of that character re-envisioned as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action series, differing from the initial comic and cartoon version.

This performer joins several other fresh additions tasked with bringing the organization to the screen, including head Mr. 0, brought to life by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who will appear as the lineup as the monarch of the fictional land.

Though Bon Clay is a major member of Baroque Works, the persona will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Given the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this marks a major departure in the placement of their first appearance, one that could signal more adjustments to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the part. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.
