World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
Across the season, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She earned almost eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third time.
