A plane carrying the US defense secretary was forced to make an emergency landing in the Britain on Wednesday after a crack was discovered in the jet's front window, according to an official announcement which verified that the secretary was unharmed.
"The jet touched down based on standard protocol and all individuals on the flight, among them Pete Hegseth, is safe," a press officer stated in a social media post.
He was traveling back from a brief trip to Brussels at the time.
This event does not mark the first occasion that a United States armed forces jet carrying a high-ranking official has encountered technical problems.
Earlier this year, a United States Air Force aircraft transporting Marco Rubio to the German city of Munich was required to head back to the US capital after encountering a mechanical problem.
