Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
This update on his health arrives after the sports world offered sympathy for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
